Initiated in 1975 as a Traders Association wherein all Businesses were Members in isolation - in 2004 the need to expand Tourism as the key Fiscal plank of the Local Government - we established direct links to Geelong Otway Tourism & to Bellarine Tourism as the Regional link to Tourism Victoria - since that time our Executive Members hold roles with the Boards of both operations. In 2009 the Members wished to explore the dual role of both Business & Tourism as connected roles. It was determined that a body was needed to be an Advocate for Business activities & the 217 registered operations in the Towns of Queenscliff & Point Lonsdale - with support mechanisms & as a conduit to Local Government directly - our name change to address both these strings was enacted officially in 2010 - a Memorandum of Understanding previously in place was now expanded to this all encompassing role - renewable at three year intervals or when necessary. We include CEO, Officer, Mayor & Councillors in our charter relations. The word "Chamber" was not supported by the Membership at the time - however the vision was to meet the challenges first within the dynamics of the pressing current issues within the Borough - while establishing the link to the Overarching role as a priority to all stakeholders. We accordingly are following through on this Membership for a long term future relationship.
